The Grand Central Church of Christ (Vienna, WV) is searching for an individual to serve as an Associate/Involvement Minister. This person would be joining a team of eight shepherds, twenty deacons, two interns, two office assistants, a preaching/teaching minister, and a minister to families with children and youth. The church averages 350 in attendance and counts over 500 people in her extended church family. The church seeks to effectively reach out to our community and has developed a close relatonship with Ohio Valley University (a Christian college associated with the churches of Christ).
Major responsibilities include aiding in ministries coordination, encouraging effective member involvement, and overseeing a growing small groups ministry. To accomplish this the person will need excellent relational skills and a willingness to initiate meaningful contact with others. The church is seeking an individual with recent experience and demonstrated abilities in these areas.
In addition, experience and ability in any of the following areas is desirable but not a requirement for consideration: worship leading and/or planning, teaching, education ministry, and campus ministry. An understanding of the challenges and transitions experienced by a growing church would be a plus.
The Grand Central congregation is 56 years old and experiencing significant growth (including a baby boom which is now requiring the second expansion of nursery space in the past four years). In the past ten years the church has grown signficantly (over 40%) and has greatly expanded her ministries and outreach. Continued growth would be enhanced by the further development of an involvement ministry which emphasizes encouraging and helping each member to discover their abilities and opportunities.
