A letter from the Shepherds of the Grand Central Church
The Family Enhancement Ministry at Grand Central is beginning a Couple-to-Couple program to strength the marriages within our congregation. The program will match a mentoring couple who have successfully navigated through at least five years of marriage with a couple to be mentored, perhaps an engaged couple or newlyweds or even couples who have been married for years but are struggling with marriage or parenting issues. The program can bless any marriage, the secure and happy one as well as the challenged one. A number of couples at Grand Central are already experiencing this mentoring relationship and are being blessed by it.
Once matched, these couples will meet together at times convenient for everyone, usually once a month, to talk and pray about their marriages and their families, the challenges they face and how to conquer them. Naturally, all that is shared in these periods of fellowship will be held in strict confidence by all parties. These times of sharing are not intended to replace formal counseling where that need exists, but these relationships do fulfill the biblical mandate of older Christians teaching younger Christians (Titus 2:1-8).
If you are interested in participating in this ministry as a couple to be mentored, please see Larry Ice or Kevin Lombard to pick up a brief form to fill out and return. Couples desiring to be mentored will be matched with suitable mentors and a first meeting will be scheduled with one of the ministry leaders who will model and initiate the sharing time.
The elders believe that this program will build up individual spiritual lives, marriages, families, and our entire fellowship. If you have questions, please feel free to talk to Kevin or Larry.
