Work Camp also helps build unity in youth groups as they plan and work toward a common goal. It challenges groups to develop their strengths and work with others. It creates an opportunity to involve more young people in the group. It also builds an awareness of the need for committed Christian workers throughout the world. Groups traveling together, staying together in the dorms at Ohio Valley College, meeting other groups who are experiencing the same adventure, and working as a group can spark spiritual growth. It gives the group a more clearly defined sense of mission. And youth group members can influence their churches and families when they return home.
Work Camp is also a way to demonstrate love and grace to the people being served. It gives homeowners a positive view of Christian young people and the church. It builds self-worth and pride in homeowners. It allows them to see Christ living in the workers. It allows them to sing, pray, and experience firsthand God's model for our lives.
